India finds the first instances of Omicron

India’s first two instances of the Omicron type of Covid-19 infection were reported today in the southern state of Karnataka, according to the Indian Health Ministry.

According to our New Delhi reporter, “all secondary contacts of the two patients who have been found with the Omicron strain have been located and are being tested.”

The first two instances were verified by lab testing, according to the ministry. When the first two instances of Omicron in India were announced, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal informed the media that people should not be alarmed and that they should take Covid-appropriate precautions and avoid crowds.

“The first two people infected with the Omicron variety are guys aged 66 and 46,” he stated, “but their names are being withheld for the time being to safeguard their privacy.”

According to an Indian health ministry source, the Omicron form was initially discovered in southern Africa and has since spread to 29 nations. To prevent the spread of the new strain, India has already implemented tight health regulations for overseas travelers.
