General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff, arrived in Dhaka today after a visit to South Korea, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
On October 19, General Shafiuddin paid a courtesy call on General Nam Yeong-shin, Chief of Staff of the Republic of Korea Army. They discussed ways to strengthen current military relationships between the two nations.
Later, the army commander visited the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX)-2021, where he took part in two military exercises labeled ‘Army Tiger 4.0’ and ‘Warriors’ Platform,’ as well as many booths.
General Shafiuddin also met with South Korean Minister of National Defense Suh Wook, Army Chief General Nam Yeong-shin, Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces General Jaque Raul, and Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces Oleg Leonidovich Salyukov, among others, to share perspectives.
On October 20, General Shafiuddin attended an air show at ADEX-2021 in honor of President Moon Jae-in of South Korea and saw several military equipment displays.
On October 21, he also took part in a cultural trip organized by the South Korean tourist organization, during which he toured several historical places in Seoul. On the same day, he attended a luncheon in his honor at Bangla House and spoke with Bangladeshi Ambassador to South Korea Md Delwar Hossain.
According to the ISPR announcement, the army chief’s visit to the ADEX-2021 expo is likely to provide light on the advancements required for the Bangladesh Army to achieve its Forces’ Goal 2030.
