Youths help poor farmer cut Aman paddy voluntarily in Gobindaganj

A number of youths helped poor farmer cut the Aman paddy voluntarily. Local sources said Abdul Hakim, a poor farmer cultivated T-Aman paddy on his a bigha of land at Satian Chura village under Kamdia union of Gobindaganj upazila in the district this year. The paddy grew well and was matured and also turned into yellowish look. High time was going on to cut the paddy but farmer Hakim could not cut the paddy due to his poverty. In this situation, the youths who are the members of Satian Chura Jubo Unnayan Samobay Samity extended their helping hands and stood beside the farmer saying that they would cut the paddy free of cost. Accordingly, the youths cut the paddy voluntarily on Saturday. After cutting paddy by the youths, farmer Abdul Hakim is so much happy as he cannot harvest the paddy due to his economic crisis. He also expressed his gratefulness to the youths for their benevolent work. Md. Nizam Uddin, president of the samobay samity said since the formation of the samity, its youths have been doing welfare works for the local poor people. As a part of the welfare works, they had stood beside the farmer and helped him cut the ripen paddy, he added. Sobhan Miah, a resident of the village said the youths of other village pass their time through facebook chatting but the youths of Satian Chura village stood beside a poor farmer with positive attitude and helped him cut ripen Aman paddy voluntarily. The youths are our pride, he also said. Local Union Parishad chairman Moshahed Hossain Chowdhury said the youths of the samity had done an appreciable work. The parishad would remain them such the good work. The work by the youths had become talk of the people of the upazila and everybody is highly appreciating the task of the youths.
