Prof. Manzoor Ahmed
Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Emeritus Professor at BRAC University and esteemed education scholar, has been invited as a keynote speaker for the 2023 China-Southeast Asian Symposium Towards Ecological Civilisation: Education for Sustainable Rural Development. The symposium is set to take place from December 9 to 11, 2023, at Beijing Normal University.
Dr. Ahmed, who has been a Board member of the UNESCO-affiliated International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) since 2010, will also participate in the governing board session of UNESCO INRULED during the event. His pivotal role in crafting INRULED's research report on "Education and Training for Rural Transformation: Skills, Jobs, Food, and Green Future to Combat Poverty" underscores his commitment to addressing critical issues in rural education.
As a keynote speaker, Dr Ahmed will share his thoughtful insights on transforming education for inclusive and rural development. The speech will also reflect on his vast experiences in promoting rural sustainable development.
About Professor Manzoor Ahmed
Dr Ahmed is the founding director of BRAC University Institute of Educational Development. His contribution to research and learning continues to transform educational policies and planning, aiming for quality education with equity in the national learning systems comprising formal schools, early childhood development, non-formal education and lifelong learning.
Dr Ahmed is the chair of the Bangladesh Early Childhood Development Network (BEN) and vice-chair of the Council of Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and he is also an Advisory Board member of the Yidan Education Foundation. He has served for over two decades in Unicef, including working as a senior education adviser in New York, and as the country director in China, Ethiopia and Japan. He also served as a senior researcher at the International Council for Educational Development in Essex, Connecticut, US.
