2nd Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) held at UIU
The School of Business and Economics (SoBE) of United International University (UIU) organized the 2nd nationwide Inter-University research competition titled “Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) 2024”.
The award-giving ceremony of the Undergraduate Research Symposium was held on January 13, 2025 (Monday) at 10:00 AM at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka-1212.
Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka was present as the Chief Guest. Professor Emeritus Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director of UIU Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) and Chairman, Power Grid Bangladesh PLC was present as the Special Guest.
The Vice Chancellor of UIU Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia presided over the Ceremony. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohd. H. R. Joarder, SoBE, UIU & Convenor, URS-2024 and the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Musa, Dean of SoBE, UIU.
It is an academic research competition among the undergraduate students of both public and private universities to enhance and nurture the research culture among the young students of especially in business education. Over hundreds of young students from different private and public universities participated in three different domains in this unique research competition.
The top 10 teams from each domain were invited to present their research papers. All participants received certificate and gift pack. In total there were 06 winners. In each domain, the best research paper won the first prize of BDT 1,00,000 followed by BDT 60,000 for the first runner-up and BDT 40,000 for the second runner-up.

Champion - Ramisa Rutbata Hossain Avantika & Rajin Al-Tanjim Bhuiyan - UIU
1st Runner-up - Faiyaz Bin Zulfiqar & Samiha Tasnim Promi - UIU
2nd Runner-up - Asia Bagum, Maruf Hasan Arif, Mesbah Amin & Maksudur Rahman - UIU
Domain 2:
Champion - Muhtasim Ahamed Chowdhury - UIU
1st Runner-up - Tawsif Abrar Faiyaz, Nur Afrin Chowdhury Ananna & Maisha Jahin - NSU
2nd Runner-up - Tarif Hassan, Rafia Tabassum Sara & Ayman Ilias Choudhury - IBA, DU
The Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said that - the research is very important to move forward a country. Every student should be involved in research during their university life. This kind of engagement will shape and make them ready for higher studies in abroad with greater motivation, and this symposium will play an important role in becoming a proper researcher in the future.
The faculty members, students, officials, academicians, government high officials, researchers, journalists and other distinguished guests were present in the program.
