Speakers in a function here yesterday underscored the need for promoting nutrition status through active participation of multi stakeholders of the society. “To reach the nutrition movement to a desired position and to make the national nutrition services of the government successful, all stakeholders of the society should come forward with positive attitude and they should work collectively, in this perspective multi-sectoral approach are very crucial”, they also said. They came up with the comments while addressing a day long workshop on Scoping Opportunities to work with members of Civil Society Alliance (CSA) for Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN), district chapter at the training room of SKS Inn located at Radhakrishnapur area under Sadar upazila in the district on Thursday. Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO) project which is being implemented by RDRS Bangladesh and Netherlands based international development organization ICCO Cooperation with the financial support of European Union organized the workshop how to promote the nutrition activities in the district in the days ahead. The workshop began through delivering welcome speech by operation lead of SONGO Project Mostafa Nurul Islam Reza who also briefed the participants about overall activities of the project through a power point presentation. Then, a presentation on the subject was also done by Panning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Lead of the project Md. Shariful Islam. Moderated by Md. Tafiqul Islam, adviser nutrition governance of SONGO project, the workshop was also addressed among others by Farid Ahmed, a member of executive Committee of CSA for SUN, executive director(ED) of Uddyog Foundation Zillur Rahman Khandker, ED of Sinnomul Mohila Samity Mursherdur Rahman Khan, public relations officer of SKS Foundation Md. Ashraful Alam, noted development worker Mohirul Islam Tushar, senior journalist Sarker Mohammad Shahiduzzaman and local consultant of the project Afruja Bulbul. Farid Ahmed, an EC member of CSA for SUN said as the CSA for SUN is a global network and works for nutrition across the world, the members of the alliance could play significant role for the Project and contribute to promote nutrition activity at project commands areas. After elaborate discussion, the both sides men reached the unity and many recommendations and strategic plans were also adopted to conduct the nutrition movement in Gaibandha and Kurigram districts at the joint collaborative of SONGO Project and CSA for SUN, district chapter. All members of CSA for SUN, district chapter and the officials of SONGO Project including invited persons participated in the workshop.
