Police arrest Menon
Bangladesh Workers Party chief Rashed Khan Menon has been picked up by police in plain clothes in Dhaka.
Menon was arrested on Thursday afternoon from his Gulshan residence, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Md Obaidur Rahman.
However, he did not say if the former minister and MP was detained over any case.
Abdul Momin, the security guard of Menon’s house, told bdnews24.com: “Some people claiming to be detective police came and took him away.”
Earlier, a Chhatra Dal leader who was injured during the quota reform movement filed a case against deposed premier Sheikh Hasina in Sylhet. Menon was also accused in the case.
According to the case dossier, the Awami League and its affiliated organisations opened fire and attacked the students and citizens during the mass anti-government movement in Sylhet’s Bandarbazar area. The plaintiff himself was injured in the attack, along with many others.
In addition, the International Crimes Tribunal has also received a complaint against Hasina, Menon, and 25 others in connection with the killing of a student in Mirpur during the civil uprising.
