Enhancing Shalish Efficiency through Elite Training
Speakers in a function here said capacity building up training for the elite could help perform the activities of shalish in an efficient way through managing the both disputed groups.
“ The benefits of arbitration are more because it is held at any place of any day informally and judgement is known within few hours after hearing both sides of the disputed groups. The judgement of formal court is a lengthy process because to get judgement the justice seekers are to wait long time. Apart from it, litigation in court is costly. So there is no alternative to popularizing the arbitration system in the society to get instant judgement and to avoid entanglement of cases in the public court”, they also said
They came up with the comments while they were addressing a concluding ceremony of 2-daylong capacity building training on Shalish for the elite at the training center of a non-government organization at Madnerpara area under Fulchhari upazila in the district on Saturday afternoon.
Friendship, an international social purpose organization arranged the function under Good Governance Project funded by Eriks Development Partner and Friendship Luxembourg.
Joint district and session judges Kudrat-e- Khoda and Md. Abu Sayeed, and senior journalist Sarker Md. Shahiduzzaman addressed the function among others while regional project manager of Inclusive Citizenship Sector Nazmul Hossain moderated the ceremony.
The speakers also said it is not possible to dispose off the issues like killing, rape and robbery and other complex issues through the arbitration.
Earlier, additional district and session judges Md. Atiqur Rahman formally inaugurated the training on Friday as the chief guest.
Then, a team of trainers led by chief judicial magistrate Maruf Hossain conducted the training sessions as the resource persons.
The definition of arbitration, its steps, judicial power of arbitration were discussed elaborately by the resource persons during the training sessions, said assistant program manager Rezoanul Haque.
A total of 30 elite of the district participated in the training.
