Protest rally demands barrier removal from their graveyard 

Speakers in a protesting rally today unequivocally said and demanded of the concerned to remove the barrier of the graveyard of the Santals at Razavirat area, a santal dominated village under Razahar union of Gobindaganj upazila in the district.
 
“A group of land bandit led by local  union parishad chairman Rafiqul Islam and his cohorts occupied a land of Santal of the village long ago. Not only that, very recently they also made the graveyard of the santals surrounded with strong net and fencing so that the santals could not enter the graveyard and conduct the funeral activity for their community men and women”, they also said. 

They made the remarks while they were addressing a protest rally held at the village at the initiative of Adibashi Bangali Sanghati Parishad, Samazik Sangram Parishad, ALRD and Sahebganj Bagdafarm Bhumi Uddhar Sangram Committee this noon. 

Advocate Sirajul Islam Babu, Probir Chakrabartee, Zahangir Kabir Tonu, Philimon Baske, Dizen Tudu spoke at the rally among others. 

The men of the chairmen are not allowing the santals to enter the graveyard that is completely violation of the human rights, they also claimed. 

In this context, they demanded of the government to take necessary step to free the occupied land from the local bandits and remove the barrier from the graveyard as early as possible.

A number of human rights activists, social workers and indigenous leaders participated in the rally.
