The fresh 48-hour countrywide road, rail, and waterways blockade called by the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies in the ongoing movement will end this morning with little impact on public life.

The 10th round of the blockade since October 31 started at 6:00am on Wednesday, demanding the cancellation of the schedule of the upcoming general election and the resignation of the ruling Awami League government handing over power to a caretaker  government for holding the election.

The opposition parties have already enforced blockades in 10 phases to mount pressure on the AL government.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi earlier announced that the party would form human chains in all cities and district towns across the country on Sunday, marking International Human Rights Day.

Family members of those who have been subjected to enforced disappearance and fictitious cases will attend the programme, he said.

Ganatantra Mancha, a coalition of six political parties, announced on Thursday that it would form a human chain in front of the Human Rights Commission Bhaban at Karwanbazar on Sunday to mark International Human Rights Day.

On the second day of the 48-hour blockade on Thursday, BNP and its allies, including Ganatantra Mancha, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liberal Democratic Party, and Gono Odhikar Parishad, brought out processions at places across the country.
