Nayeb Ali Joarder arrested

In the district's Sadar upazila Friday night, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid and took former Jhenaidah-1 politician Nayeb Ali Joarder into custody.

According to a representative of RAB's legal and media wing, he was detained by a squad of RAB-6 on August 4 after being charged with assault, vandalism, and torching during the August 4 popular uprising.

Following the death of legislator Abdul Hye in March, the seat became vacant and Nayeb Ali was elected without opposition in the by-polls.
