Ex-agriculture minister Abdus Shahid arrested
Police on Tuesday night arrested former agriculture minister Md Abdus Shahid in the capital’s Uttara area.
Confirming the news, Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for Media and Public Relations Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that he was arrested by Uttara West Police station members at about 11:30pm.
Abdus Shahid was elected as a lawmaker from Moulvibazar-4 constituency in the 12th Parliamentary Polls held on January 07 this year amid boycott by the major opposition political parties, including Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
After the election he took oath as the agriculture minister.
Shahid, also a former chief whip in the 9th parliament, was elected lawmaker from Moulvibazar-4 constituency for seventh times.
